Here is what happens when you combine early 1950's parts with new stuff (1st pic). I had to disassemble the entire transmission and cut down the boss where the drain plug is (pre 65 cases were like this), then flush mount a homemade plug back in permanently in order to get the trans up off of the shock it hit against (old 4 speed in a 5 speed Softail frame syndrome)... Transmission is back together and ready to go in(2nd pic). I will finish the kicker rebuild and replace the kicker shaft while I have it off. Up next, I need to tack some clutch cable adjuster mounts on the frame before I pull anything else off. The new pivot arm from Tech Cycle should be in any day now. Andrews gears speak for themselves. I haven't had this transmission completely apart for years, and no kiddin' everything was in very good shape. Very little needed replacement. |
